ACT

ACT , originally known as the American College Testing Program, measures high school students’ general educational development and their capability to complete college-level work with the multiple-choice tests covering four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. The optional Writing Test measures skill in planning and writing a short essay. ACT is a universally accepted test for college admission. It is conducted in 50 states across USA and at international locations five times a year in October, December, February, April and June.

Test Registration:

The students can register online at https://services.actstudent.org. The basic registration fee for ACT is 33 US$ and the fee for ACT Plus Writing is 48 US$ in addition, an international processing fee of 26 US$ is levied.

Scoring:

ACT test scores and Composite Scores range from 1-36 and the sub scores from 1-18. The composite score is the average of the scores on the four subject area tests. The rank tells the student the approximate percentage s of recent high school graduates in the US or the candidate’s state who received scores lower than or the same as the candidate. ACT Inc prepares three score reports- student report which is mailed to the student, High School Report – mailed to the high school of the student for their record and College Report mailed to the colleges desired by the candidate.

Score Reporting:

The scores can be viewed online through the student web account within 21/2 weeks of test administration and the score reports are posted by 8 weeks after the test date. However, the writing scores may take an additional two weeks for reporting. The registration fee includes mailing score reports to four colleges of the student’s choice. For additional colleges the candidate is required to pay a fee of 8.50US$ per college.
